In a thrilling finale to the three-match ODI series, Australia Women defeated India Women by 43 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on September 20, 2025. This victory secured the series 2-1 for Australia, marking their 11th bilateral series win against India.
Opting to bat first, Australia posted a formidable total of 412 all out in 47.5 overs. Beth Mooney was the standout performer, scoring a blistering 138 runs off just 75 balls, including 17 fours and 5 sixes. Her innings anchored the Australian innings and set a challenging target for India. Support came from Annabel Sutherland (52* off 50) and Elyse Perry (77* off 74), who contributed valuable runs in the latter stages of the innings.
In response, India mounted a spirited chase. Smriti Mandhana led the charge with a record-breaking 125 runs off 63 balls, becoming the fastest Indian batter to score a century in ODIs. Her aggressive stroke play kept India in the hunt. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur supported with a quickfire 65 off 58 balls, but the required run rate proved too steep. Deepti Sharma’s 53 off 44 balls added some resistance, but India was eventually bowled out for 369 in 47 overs.
Australia’s bowlers, led by Kim Garth, maintained pressure throughout the innings. Garth’s disciplined bowling in the death overs ensured that India could not accelerate the scoring. The Indian lower order, including Renuka Singh Thakur, fell short in the final overs, handing Australia a well-deserved victory.
Beth Mooney’s exceptional innings earned her the Player of the Match award, while Smriti Mandhana was named Player of the Series for her consistent and impactful performances throughout the series.
