Celebrated actor Pankaj Tripathi and his wife, business manager Mridula Tripathi, have announced the launch of their theatre production banner Roopkatha Rangmanch, marking an emotional return to the medium where Pankaj’s artistic journey began. Their maiden production, a musical comedy titled ‘Lailaaj’, will also feature a special milestone – the stage debut of their daughter Aashi Tripathi.
Written, directed, composed, and lyrically helmed by Faiz Mohammed Khan, Lailaaj promises a refreshing mix of humour, music, and heartfelt storytelling. The musical will be staged on 21st, 22nd, and 23rd of this month at Rangshila Theatre, Mumbai, offering audiences an intimate new theatrical experience.
For Pankaj Tripathi, whose roots lie deeply in theatre long before his rise in films, this new venture is a full-circle moment. Calling theatre his “first love,” the actor shared that launching a production house feels like returning to the very space that shaped his craft.
Speaking about the emotional significance of this step, Pankaj said:
“Roopkatha Rangmanch is not just a production house for us, it is an emotional extension of our roots. My journey as an actor began on the stage… Theatre has taught me sincerity, patience, emotion, and discipline. ‘Lailaaj’ is our humble tribute to theatre, to the craft, and to every artist who finds their truth on stage.”
He added that his daughter Aashi’s debut makes this production even more meaningful:
“As a father, I feel immense pride; as an actor, a deep sense of responsibility. Watching her rehearse and shine reminds me of my early days. I hope the audience showers her with the same warmth they’ve always given me.”
Co-producer Mridula Tripathi shared similar sentiments, noting that the vision behind Roopkatha Rangmanch is rooted in storytelling that touches the heart.
