YouTube Brings New AI Tools for Shorts Creators and Podcasters at Made on YouTube 2025

YouTube has announced a new set of AI-powered tools for creators at its annual Made on YouTube event. The updates focus on Shorts creators, podcasters, and live streamers, making content creation faster and easier with Google’s latest generative AI technology.

AI for Shorts Creators

The biggest highlight is the integration of a custom version of Google’s Veo 3 text-to-video model into YouTube Shorts. This will allow creators to generate short video clips from text prompts, expand visuals, or even turn images into short motion videos.

YouTube also introduced an “Edit with AI” feature, which suggests edits, backgrounds, transitions and music, helping creators finish videos more quickly. Along with this, a new remix tool will let users rework existing Shorts or other clips into fresh versions, keeping up with trending formats.

Tools for Podcasters

Podcasters are getting a big boost too. YouTube announced an AI clipper that automatically picks out the best short moments from long podcasts. These can be quickly shared as Shorts, helping creators reach new audiences. For audio-only podcasters, YouTube will also provide an audio-to-video tool that generates simple video clips from sound recordings, making it easier to publish shows on the platform.

Studio and Live Upgrades

Apart from Shorts and podcasts, YouTube Studio is getting AI analytics, thumbnail suggestions, and auto-dubbing to help creators grow globally. Live streaming is also being upgraded with dual-format streaming (vertical + horizontal), rehearsal mode, unified chats, and interactive Playables to increase engagement.

Why It Matters

The move comes as YouTube faces growing competition from TikTok in short-form video and Spotify in podcasts. By reducing editing time and helping audio creators step into video, YouTube aims to strengthen its creator base and boost monetization opportunities.

Rollout

The new AI features will roll out in phases. Shorts editing and podcast clipping tools will be available to select creators in the coming months, while the audio-to-video feature for podcasters will launch early next year, starting with the U.S.

With these updates, YouTube is positioning itself as the most creator-friendly platform by combining AI, video, and monetization in one place. While questions about copyright and safe use of AI remain, the tools promise to make content creation faster and more accessible for millions of creators.
