India registered a 7-wicket victory over West Indies on the fifth morning at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, securing a 2-0 series triumph. KL Rahul’s composed fifty and a solid partnership with Dhruv Jurel ensured India chased down the target efficiently, despite some resistance from the Windies bowlers.
Chasing a modest 58-run target in the final innings, India faced early resistance when Roston Chase had Sai Sudharsan nicking to Shai Hope at first slip. Rahul, however, was resolute in defence before using his feet expertly against spin from both ends.
Shubman Gill attempted to accelerate the innings by attacking Chase but fell attempting a big shot, leaving Rahul and Sudharsan to see India home. Even with wickets falling, India completed the chase just inside the first hour of play, making it a comfortable finish.
Unlike the quick finishes in Ahmedabad, this Delhi Test went into Day 5 due to an improved batting display from West Indies. After previous low totals of 44.1 and 45.1 overs in Ahmedabad, they nearly doubled their first-innings tally in Delhi.
India enforced the follow-on, keeping their bowlers on the field for 118.5 overs, while West Indies showcased determination with a final score of 390 in their second innings. Despite notable performances from John Campbell (113), Shai Hope (103), and Justin Greaves (50), the Windies were eventually undone by some deliveries keeping low and the odd lapse in defence.
