Google Labs has introduced Mixboard, an experimental, generative-AI enabled “concepting board” that helps users visualize and refine ideas using a mix of images and text. The tool is aimed at creative exploration- whether for home décor, event planning, product ideation, or DIY projects.
What is Mixboard?
Mixboard offers a flexible, open canvas experience. Key features include:
- Prompt-first or template start – Begin projects by typing a prompt or by selecting from premade boards
- Image sourcing and generation – Upload your own images or use the AI to generate visuals
- Natural language editing – With the new image editing model (Nano Banana), you can make small edits, combine visuals, or adjust elements just by describing what you want
- Variant creation tools – Options like “regenerate” or “more like this” let you create alternative versions instantly
- Text generation tied to images – The system can generate contextual text derived from the images on your board
Where and When You Can Try It
Mixboard is currently available as a public beta in the U.S., giving interested users early access to this creative tool. Google Labs describes it as “an early experiment” in making AI more accessible for idea exploration.
