AIIMS Delhi Launches ‘Never Alone’ App to Support Student Mental Health

In a major move to tackle student stress and mental health challenges, AIIMS Delhi has introduced ‘Never Alone’, an AI-powered mental wellness app. The launch coincided with World Suicide Prevention Day, reflecting the institute’s focus on student well-being.

‘Never Alone’ is a web-based and WhatsApp-accessible platform designed to provide round-the-clock mental health support for students. The app offers personalized screenings, counseling sessions, and follow-up care, all while maintaining privacy and confidentiality. Its main goal is to make seeking help easy and stigma-free.

Key Features:

  • 24/7 Support: Students can get help anytime, even during emergencies.
  • Confidential & Safe: Anonymous interactions protect privacy and encourage open sharing.
  • Complete Care: Covers initial assessment, counseling, and ongoing guidance.
  • Affordable: Costs just 70 paise per student per day, making it easy for institutions to adopt.

After its launch at AIIMS Delhi, the program has expanded to AIIMS Bhubaneswar and IHBAS Shahdara. All AIIMS institutes in India will have free access, and other educational institutions can subscribe through AIIMS Delhi. The program is supported by the Global Centre of Integrative Health (GCIH), a not-for-profit initiative backed by AIIMS alumnus Dr. Deepak Chopra.

India recorded over 1.7 lakh suicides in 2022, many among young adults aged 18–30. Academic stress, relationship problems, financial pressures, and societal stigma are major contributors. ‘Never Alone’ aims to provide timely support, reduce isolation, and encourage students to seek help without fear.

With the launch of ‘Never Alone’, AIIMS Delhi is taking a proactive step toward better student mental health. By combining technology with compassionate care, the app ensures students can reach help whenever they need it.
