In a proud moment for Indian entertainment, actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh has bagged a nomination at the International Emmy Awards 2025 in the category of Best Performance by an Actor for his role in Imtiaz Ali’s acclaimed Netflix biopic Amar Singh Chamkila.
The film, directed by Imtiaz Ali, has also secured a nomination in the TV Movie/Mini-Series category, making it the only Indian entry at this year’s International Emmys. Winners will be announced at a grand ceremony in New York on November 24, 2025.
In Amar Singh Chamkila, Dosanjh plays the legendary Punjabi singer whose life and untimely death turned him into a folk icon. His raw and authentic performance has been widely praised, earning him several awards in India earlier this year. The Emmy nomination now places him on the global stage, alongside some of the finest international actors.

The dual nominations for Amar Singh Chamkila highlight the rising impact of Indian storytelling on global streaming platforms. With Netflix backing the project, the film not only reached a wide audience but also showcased the potential of regional stories to resonate internationally.
With Diljit Dosanjh leading the charge, Amar Singh Chamkila has already cemented its place in history as one of the rare Indian productions to break into the International Emmys.
