Moscow Fashion Week 2025 concluded on a high note, reaffirming its position as a dynamic hub for international fashion and cultural exchange. Featuring designers from 13 countries, the event highlighted Russia’s growing influence in the global fashion scene, with India emerging as a key participant.
Top Indian designers made a remarkable impact. Shantnu & Nikhil debuted their all-women’s couture collection, Armouré, inspired by 1930s fashion, blending architectural silhouettes with intricate draping and hand embroidery. Pawan Sachdeva showcased his signature urban tailoring in the showroom, attracting attention from buyers and younger audiences alike. “Attending Moscow Fashion Week is the ideal way to introduce ourselves to the Russian market,” said Shantnu and Nikhil Mehra.
Russian designers also impressed with innovative collections. Ianis Chamalidy focused on minimalist, sculptural designs, while Kisselenko presented geometric silhouettes rooted in Eastern culture. Stas Lopatkin offered avant-garde tailoring that fused Eastern and Western influences, and emerging brand Vira Plotnikova highlighted technologically advanced feminine silhouettes in her Diva collection.
The week’s international flavor was further enriched by designers like David Tlale from South Africa and Turkish stylist Emre Erdemoglu, who drew inspiration from Russian culture. Brazilian designer Mayari Jubini cited Andrei Tarkovsky’s cinematic aesthetic as a major influence, merging surreal, sculpted visuals with advanced garment techniques.
Parallel to the runway, the BRICS+ Fashion Summit offered a major business and networking platform. India sent a large delegation, strengthening ties with global markets. Pawan Sachdeva, also a member of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), emphasized the significance of these events: “Traditional textiles, local motifs, and indigenous techniques are brought to a global stage, increasing appreciation for lesser-known fashion traditions.”
Moscow Fashion Week and the BRICS+ Summit have firmly positioned the city as a global fashion hub. For India, the events provided a stage to showcase celebrated designers and foster cross-cultural collaboration, proving once again that fashion is a universal language that connects audiences worldwide.
