Music lovers were treated to an unforgettable evening at the NMACC Grand Theatre in Mumbai as ace singer Shaan paid homage to the legendary Kishore Kumar with his first full-fledged tribute concert, Forever Kishore Shaan Se. The event, presented by Namrata Gupta Khan and Rabbani Mustafa Khan of NR Talent and Event Management – daughter-in-law and son of Shaan’s guru, the late Padma Vibhushan Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan – was celebrated as a night of nostalgia, artistry, and pure joy.
Shaan kicked off the evening with high-energy performances of his own hits, Main Hoon Don and Om Shanti Om, before moving into a soulful journey through Kishore Kumar classics. The setlist featured nearly 70 songs, including Tum Bin Jaun Kahan, Mere Dil Mein Aaj Kya Hai, Tera Mujhse Hai Pehle Ka Naata Koi, and Kehna Hai, along with romantic ballads like Dil Kya Kare and breezy duets such as Haal Kaisa Hai Janaab Ka and Khullam Khulla, performed with singer Nihira Joshi.
The evening was also marked by Shaan’s charm and wit. He spoke about how “every singer’s first step is inspired somewhere by Kishore da,” humorously comparing today’s WhatsApp blue-tick anxieties to the classic Inteha Ho Gayi Intezaar Ki. Drawing parallels between Kishore Kumar’s optimism and modern-day manifestation and affirmation trends, Shaan highlighted the song Jo Soche, Jo Chaahe Woh Karke Dikhade as proof of the legend’s timeless insight.
Special moments included Shaan’s son Maahi joining him on stage for a rendition of O Mere Dil Ke Chain, which drew loud cheers, and duets with Kishore Kumar’s son Sumeet Kumar, including hits like Saara Zamana Haseeno Ka Deewana. The evening closed with Chalte Chalte, leaving the audience visibly moved and swaying to the enduring magic of Kishore Kumar’s music.
In a touching tribute, Shaan also honoured the late Zubeen Garg, who had passed away earlier that day, with a soulful rendition of Yeh Jeevan Hai.
Reflecting on the concert’s success, presenters Namrata Gupta Khan and Rabbani Mustafa Khan said, “We are overjoyed with how beautifully the show unfolded. Seeing a full house swaying, singing, and reliving Kishore da’s magic was profoundly moving. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Shaan for pouring his soul into every note, and to the audience for embracing this tribute with such love.”
