Popular South Indian actress Anushka Shetty has announced that she is stepping away from social media, just days after her latest film Ghaati opened to a dull response at the box office.
On Friday, the Baahubali star shared a handwritten note on X (formerly Twitter), where she expressed her decision to take a pause from online platforms. The timing of her announcement has drawn attention, as it comes on the heels of Ghaati’s underwhelming performance in theatres, despite the high expectations surrounding the film.
In her heartfelt note, Anushka wrote:
“Trading blue light to candle light… Will be stepping away from social media for a bit, just to reconnect to the world and work beyond the scrolling, to where we all actually started. See you all soon with more stories and more love… always forever… Smile always. Love, Anushka Shetty.”
Anushka’s latest release Ghaati was touted as a big comeback project but failed to make a mark domestically. The film opened to mixed reviews and modest collections, leaving fans and trade analysts slightly disappointed.
Industry watchers suggest that the actress’s decision to go offline could also be a way to recharge personally and professionally before she takes on new projects.
This is not the first time Anushka has spoken about stepping back from the spotlight to maintain balance. Her note reflects her wish to focus on “real connections” and her work, rather than the constant cycle of online engagement.
While fans may miss her updates, the actress assured that she will be back soon with “more stories and more love,” leaving many hopeful for exciting announcements in the near future.
