Actress Nehal Vadoliya Accuses Subhash Ghai of Misconduct, Filmmaker Denies Allegations

Actress Nehal Vadoliya, best known for her roles in Gandii Baat, Julie, Mangalam Dangalam and the 2023 mini-series Imli, has levelled serious allegations of sexual misconduct against veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai. The actress recalled a disturbing incident that she says took place years ago at the filmmaker’s residence.

In an interview with Galatta India, Vadoliya revealed that she visited Subhash Ghai’s home with her then-boyfriend, who was also working as the director’s manager at the time. According to her, the evening began on a casual note with the three of them sharing wine. However, she claims the situation soon took an uncomfortable turn.

  • Nehal said Ghai complimented her appearance, calling her “sexy” and praising her laughter, remarks that made her uneasy in front of her partner.
  • She further alleged that while returning from the washroom, Ghai followed her into a room and moved close to her. With his eyes closed, he allegedly attempted to kiss her. Vadoliya claims she managed to avoid direct contact, but his lips brushed her cheek.
  • Shocked by the incident, she confronted her boyfriend, questioning why he had taken her there and accusing him of being aware of Ghai’s behaviour. She eventually ended the relationship, saying she felt deceived by someone she trusted.

The actress described the experience as “traumatic” and said it left her shaken for a long time.

However, Subhash Ghai, who has directed classics like Karz, Ram Lakhan and Taal, has firmly denied the allegations. Without naming Vadoliya directly, he shared a post on social media describing the claims as false and motivated by publicity.

“It’s scary to meet unknown people who want to be seen on social media with right or wrong statements just for publicity. We must respect each other while working together in this industry,” he wrote.

The allegation has once again sparked conversation around the treatment of women in the film industry and the power dynamics between aspiring actors and established figures. While Nehal’s revelations have gained traction online, no formal complaint has been filed with the police at the time of writing.

Nehal Vadoliya began her career in television with Mangalam Dangalam – Kabhi Pyaar, Kabhi Vaar (2018) and went on to act in several digital series including Gandii Baat 3, Julie and Imli. She has also appeared in regional cinema and participated in a controversial reality show House Arrest.
