VinFast VF6, VF7 Electric SUVs Launched in India from ₹16.49 Lakh; Local Assembly in Tamil Nadu

Vietnamese electric vehicle maker VinFast has officially entered the Indian EV market with the launch of its VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs. Prices start at ₹16.49 lakh for the VF6 and ₹20.89 lakh for the VF7 (ex-showroom). Both SUVs will be locally assembled at the brand’s new facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, with deliveries expected to begin later this year.

Aggressive Expansion in India

VinFast is adopting a scale-first strategy for India. The company has already partnered with 13 dealer groups to open 32 outlets across 27 cities, covering key markets including Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, and Kolkata. The network is expected to grow to 35 cities by end-2025, ensuring a wide reach from the start.

Pricing, Variants and Range

The SUVs are being offered in multiple trims to suit different customer needs:

Both models come with 59.6kWh or 70.8kWh battery packs, depending on the variant, and the VF7 also offers an all-wheel-drive option with dual motors.

Features and Technology

VinFast is positioning its SUVs as feature-rich offerings:

These features put the VF6 and VF7 on par with established premium EVs while staying competitively priced.

Warranty, Charging and Ownership Benefits

To attract first-time EV buyers, VinFast is offering one of the most comprehensive after-sales packages in the market:

Additionally, VinFast has tied up with RoadGrid, myTVS and Global Assure for roadside assistance, charging access, and diagnostics, while BatX Energies will support battery recycling in India.

Financing Support

For easy adoption, VinFast has partnered with Axis Bank to provide up to 100% on-road funding, flexible EMIs, and ₹200 crore in dealer financing support. This ensures competitive retail finance options for both customers and dealers.

With aggressive pricing, long warranties, local assembly, and a ready retail and charging ecosystem, VinFast is entering India with strong intent. While the EV space is already competitive with Tata, MG, Hyundai, and Mahindra in the fray, VinFast’s combination of affordable pricing and premium features could help it carve a niche among Indian EV buyers.
