Bollywood star Varun Dhawan has unveiled his fierce and gritty first look from Border 2, the long-awaited sequel to J.P. Dutta’s iconic 1997 war drama Border. The actor took to social media on Wednesday to share the striking poster, which immediately caught the attention of fans and film enthusiasts alike.
The poster showcases Varun Dhawan in a rugged, battle-hardened avatar – his face smeared with dust and determination, rifle in hand, as he leads a charge amidst a chaotic warzone. The background blazes with explosions and desert storms, capturing the raw intensity that defined the original film.
Varun Dhawan will step into the role of Hoshiyar Singh Dahiya, the legendary soldier who was awarded India’s highest military honour, the Param Vir Chakra, for his extraordinary bravery during the Indo-Pak war of 1971.
The title Border 2 appears boldly at the bottom of the poster, accompanied by the film’s release date, hinting at an epic continuation of the story that once stirred national pride across India.
Directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Bhushan Kumar and JP Dutta’s daughter Nidhi Dutta, Border 2 is expected to pay tribute to the valour of Indian soldiers while introducing a modern cinematic scale and new emotional arcs.
The original Border (1997), starring Sunny Deol, Suniel Shetty, Akshaye Khanna, and Jackie Shroff, remains one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated war dramas, known for its patriotic music and emotional storytelling. Sunny Deol is set to reprise his role in the sequel, bringing together two generations of stars.
While details of the storyline and full cast remain under wraps, early buzz suggests that the film will revisit the Battle of Longewala with a contemporary perspective and larger-than-life action sequences.
